The lanterns are traditional for vesak, and the parades ond the streets, displaying different costumes presented by groups of dancers or even an elefants are even more traditional. And the love and laughter of neighbours, may they be of hindhu belief, christians, muslims or buddhists is a symbol of what Lord Buddha wanted for Sri Lanka: a society of believers, a society of Friends.
After the recent bomb attackes Sri Lankans are no more paralyzed, they have recognized that the terror coming to their country was initialized by a few powers instrumentalizing a country between the worlds of yeasterday and today.
An average Sri Lankans doesn`t understand what happened, he only understands that others tell him that his muslim neighbour should be his enemy by now. Burning down the house.
But: he also understands that he is meant to believe that, whereas Kardinals and Imams plsaster the media with cooperational pleads and the clear announcenment that one should love and help one another. That, to a vast extend, is understood by ALL.
But: the streets full of joy during vesak need some time to recover.
Sri Lanka is cautious. Sri Lankans become one again, but Sri Lanka is in silent mode.Switch to be turned soon.
